Laura Jordan

Sept. 26, 1935-Feb. 25, 2013

 

Laura Ruth “Sally” Jordan, 77, beloved wife, mother, sister and grandmother triumphed over her lung cancer and was called home to heaven on Monday, Feb. 25, 2013. Sally passed away peacefully at home in Amesville surrounded by a loving family and friends.

Sally was born Sept. 26, 1935. She married Thomas Jordan Sr. on April 23, 1953. Together they had six children and were married for 56 years at the time of Tom’s passing.

Sally was preceded in death by her husband Thomas Reginald Jordan Sr. in 2009; and two children, Johnny Ray Jordan 1962 and Thomas Reginald Jordan Jr. in 2012.

Survivors include daughter Pamela Hatfield and husband David of Amesville; loving daughter-in-law Jo Jordan, of Fort Worth, Texas; daughter Nancy Bishop and husband Ray of Mendenhall, Miss.; sons William “Bill” Jordan and wife Susan of Ironton; and Shane Jordan and wife Kelli of Albany; brother John Crance and wife Marty of Ironton; sister Mary Rawlins of Charleston. S.C.; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Friday at noon at Brown Funeral Chapel followed by a celebration of her life at 2 p.m. with Pastor Rod Vernon officiating. Burial will be in Zoar Cemetery, Coal Grove.

 

 

Carol Allen

Carol Kay Roy Allen, 64, of Flatwoods, Ky., died Friday, Feb. 22, 2013, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Ky. She was the wife of Paul Thomas Allen Jr., who survives. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until noon Thursday at Bailey Family Funeral Home in Flatwoods. Graveside service will be performed at 1 p.m. Thursday at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North East in Greenup County, Ky., with Bishop Benjamin Hurt officiating.

Tom Bowen

Tom Bowen, 69, of West Hamlin, W.Va., died Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013, at Cabell Huntington Hospital. He was the husband of Nancy Bowen, who survives. There will be a private funeral and burial. Floyd Doster

Aug. 15, 1941-Feb. 22, 2013

 

Floyd Leon Doster, 71, of Ironton, died Friday, Feb. 22, 2013, at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington, W.Va. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at New Jerusalem Worship Center, Ironton with Bishop Kenneth Lisath officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery, Ironton. Floyd was born Aug. 15, 1941. He is survived by his wife, Tabitha Doster; a daughter, Loretta Vinson of Ironton; and three sons, Larry Nelson and Terry Nelson, both of Ironton, and Michael Nelson of Ashland, Ky. Anna Kelly

Aug. 26, 1925-Feb. 24, 2013

 

Anna Mae Kelly, 87, of Ironton, passed away Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013, at her residence. The Ironton native was born Aug. 26, 1925, the daughter of the late Harrison and Ruth Bowman Martin. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James H. Kelly, who passed away Nov. 28, 2002.

Mrs. Kelly attended Ironton High School and was a housekeeper for the Marting House Hotel. She was a 49-year member of the 10th Street Tabernacle in Ironton.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Jess Martin, Carl Martin, Willard Martin, Marshall Martin and Ralph Martin; five sisters, Roberta Laber, Mary Morgan, Edith Lunsford, Arlene Crance and Catherine Wikoff; and son-in-law, Orren Lloyd Baker.

She is survived by a son, James Larry Kelly and his wife, Nancy of Ironton; a daughter, Linda Baker of Ironton; grandchildren, Kathy Bush, Rachel Faulkner, Al (Cristi) Bush, Kathy Baker, James (Mandy) Baker, Jennifer (Scott) Steele, Amanda (Shawn Wilson) Cron and Kevin Baker; great grandchildren, Caleb Faulkner, Joey Bush, Lauren Bush, Bryan Steele, James Baker, Andrew Baker, Evan Baker, Katie Baker, Allie Baker and Emily Carpenter; brother, John Martin of New York; two sisters, Martha (Paul) Willis of Ironton and Helen (Jerry) Willis of Baton Rouge, La.; and brother-in-law, Earl Kelley of Ironton.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Phillips Funeral Home with Brother Chad Pemberton and Pastor John Stevens officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery and visitation will be Thursday from noon until the time of the service at the funeral home.
