Former Lawrence County Prosecutor J.B. Collier Jr. will be honored at this year’s Lawrence County Republican Party Lincoln Day Dinner.

“The years that he served as prosecuting attorney have probably been at 20 years,” Ray Dutey, county Republican Party chair, said. “We have always tried to honor the ones who have served for a long time. I thought he did a good job. J.B. was very, very efficient. I thought he did a good job as prosecutor.”

Current Prosecutor Brigham Anderson will present the tribute.

Guest speaker will be Ohio Supreme Court Justice Judith L. French.

French, a Sebring native, became the 155th justice when she was appointed by Gov. John Kasich in 2012.

Before she joined the high court, French was elected to the Tenth District Court of Appeals handling appeals from Franklin County courts and state administrative agencies.

“She is newly appointed and this is a chance for us to get to know her,” Jason Stephens, county auditor and party vice chair, said. “Anytime you have a Supreme Court justice from the state it is a big deal. You don’t get to talk with and hear their points of view every day. We are excited about it.”

The Lincoln Day Dinner will be Tuesday, March 19, at 6:30 p.m. at South Point High School. Tickets are $25 per person with sponsorships available for $100.

“We have it every year,” Dutey said. “It helps raise funds for the Republican party. We try to build up our treasury.”
