St. Joe’s record-setting season came to an end Tuesday night when the Flyers lost 5-0 to the unbeaten Wheelersburg Pirates in the Division II district semifinals.

The loss was the first this season for St. Joe which finished with an impressive 14-1-3 record.

"Nothing that happened here tonight can take away what these kids have accomplished this season. They gave their best effort just like they have all season. They can hold their heads high. They just got beat by a good team," Flyers coach John Schwab said.

Wheelersburg (16-0-2) took a 2-0 halftime lead on goals by B. J. Lyon with assists from Aaron Bennett.

St. Joe’s Eric Waginger appeared to have score a goal when the ball crossed the line in front of the net, but the officials ruled the goalie stopped the ball and then threw it back out.
