Helen Franz

Helen June Franz, 88, loving wife, mother and grandmother, of Ironton, passed away Thursday, March 21, 2013, at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital in Ashland, Ky.

The Ironton native was born June 15, 1924, a daughter to the late Willard and Clara (Dillon) Sites. Helen is also preceded in death by her husband, who passed away Dec. 25, 2005, Jack Franz.

Helen was a 1942 graduate of Dawson-Bryant High School and member of Zoar Baptist Church in Coal Grove. She was a homemaker, former nursing assistant at the Deaconess Hospital and bookkeeper for Jack Franz Plumbing. She was an avid seamstress and former den mother for Cub Scout Pack #106.

Helen is survived by three sons, Larry (Melanie) Franz of Ironton, Randy (Connie) Franz of Kitts Hill, Ricky (Darlene) Franz of Westerville; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; three sisters, Gaynelle Klaiber of Coal Grove, Doris Jean Sesher of Ironton, Maxine Caudill of Ravenswood, W.Va.; and a brother, Carl Sites of South Point.

In addition to her parents and husband, Helen is preceded in death by a son, Ronald Franz; three brothers and one sister, Emmet, Donald, Vernal and Rose.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 26, at the Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home, 509 South 6th Street, Ironton with Pastor Jim Beals officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Zoar Cemetery in Coal Grove. Visitation will be Monday from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Kathleen Lawless

Kathleen “Bobbie” Lawless, 89, of Ironton, passed away Thursday, March 21, 2013, at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky. The Ironton native was born Oct. 18, 1923, the daughter of the late Patrick and Hazel Butler Galvin. She is survived by her husband, Jack F. Lawless.

Bobbie attended St. Lawrence Catholic High School and was a former sewing machine operator at Wilson’s Sporting Goods in Ironton. She was a member of the St. Lawrence O’Toole Catholic Church in Ironton.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Elizabeth Morgan and Georganna Goodall and a brother, Donald P. Galvin.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Jack P. Lawless of South Point; a daughter, Susan K. Lawless of Catlettsburg, Ky.; a sister, Rosalee Pyles of Jamestown and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be 11:30 a.m. Monday, March 25 in Woodland Cemetery with Father David Huffman officiating. There will be no public visitation. Joanne Pauley

Joanne Pauley, 80, of Ironton, died Friday, March 22, 2013 at Sunset Nursing Home. She was born Feb. 19, 1933, the daughter of the late William and Chloe Leonard Friend.

She was the wife of the late Robert Pauley. She was retired from Lawrence County General Hospital. She was also preceded in death by one daughter-in-law, Charlotte Pauley. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Tim and Millie Pauley and John and Karen Pauley; grandchildren, Brian and Kelly Pauley, Mike and Christie Pauley, Gary and Crystal Pauley; great-grandchildren, Kendal, Kylie, Hunter, Katie, Nick, Josie, Dawson and Sami, and several nieces and nephews.

O’Keefe-Baker Funeral Home will have a cremation committal service at Woodland Cemetery Section 11, Tuesday, March 26 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Jeff Cremeans officiating.

 

Thomas Holderby

Thomas “Tom” G. Holderby, 81, of Proctorville died Friday, March 22, 2013, at his home. He is survived by his wife, Barbara.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, March 25 at Hall Funeral Home in Proctorville by Pastor Shirley Ball. Burial will follow in Rome Cemetery in Proctorville. Proctorville VFW Post 6878 will conduct military gravesite rites. Visitation will be held 6 to 8 p.m. today at Hall Funeral Home in Proctorville. Albert Dillow

Albert “Ab” Dillow, 86, of Flatwoods, Ky., died Friday, March 22, 2013, at his daughter’s home.

Funeral services will be at noon Monday, March 25 at Bailey Family Funeral Home in Flatwoods, Ky., with the Rev. Pete Roar officiating. Burial will follow in Melvin Cemetery in Wurtland, Ky. Visitation will be today from 6-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
