Despite being one of only three freshmen on the team, Collins not only made the Buckeyes fall traveling team but established himself as the team’s No. 1 player.

In the annual fall qualifier, Collins finished the eight-day playoff system with a 569 score, two strokes better than sophomore Ryan Dennis to become the Jack Nicklaus Low Qualifier winner.

Collins had rounds of 67-69-68-74-73-72-69-77 to lead the field of 12 players. The top eight finishers will comprise the Buckeyes team. None of the 12 golfers on the roster are seniors.

A four-time first team All-Ohio golfer for the Ironton Fighting Tigers, Collins finished with a 71.1 average. Dennis had 71.3 average and sophomore Noah Lucas at 71.5.

The rest of the squad will consist of sophomores Jason Oien (71.6), David Wagenseller (71.7), Jeff Olson (72.0), and Scott Miller (72.7) and junior Mike Austin (72.7).

Chris Emanual, Miller, Wagenseller, Lucas, Oien are all letter winners while Austin is a two-time letterman.
