Probation violation and theft were among the matters getting attention Wednesday in Lawrence County Common Pleas Court.

Justin Law, 25, of Abingdon, Va., was arraigned on two counts of grand theft of a firearm. He pleaded not guilty through his attorney, Marty Stillpass. Judge D. Scott Bowling set a $20,000 own recognizance (OR) bond and scheduled a Feb. 24 pretrial conference.

Kyle J. Adams, 20, of 2003 N. Fourth St., Ironton, admitted he violated his probation because he did not report to his probation officer and because he was recently arrested on new charges. He was on probation for an earlier theft conviction.

“This is a case where the court reserved 11 months, put him on CCS (community control sanctions) and Mr. Adams was to have gone to STAR,” Assistant Lawrence County Prosecutor Mack Anderson said. “He was interviewed by STAR and never reported back. He’s been to Florida and then got arrested and has charges in Ironton Municipal Court.”

Judge Charles Cooper sentenced Adams to 11 months in prison.

Diana Murray, 50, of 2040 County Road 6, Ironton, admitted she violated her probation by testing positive for drug use. Cooper sentenced her to 12 months in prison. She was on probation for an earlier assault charge.
