John L. Osborn, 73, of Ironton, died Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2010, at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky. The South Point native was born Sept. 2, 1936, the son of the late Samuel and Myrtle Blair Osborn. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Elfriede Schlafer Osborn, whom he married Nov. 23, 1962.
Mr. Osborn was a graduate of South Point High School and was a U.S. Air Force Master Sergeant Retired Veteran, serving during the Vietnam War. He was also a former security guard for Flagler College, St. Augustine, Fla.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by five sisters; and two brothers.
In addition to his wife, he is also survived by son and daughter-in-law: A. Samuel and Mary Osborn of Randleman, N.C.; son and daughter-in-law: John D. and Pilar Osborn of Randleman, N.C.; brother: Thomas Osborn of Satellite Beach, Fla.; brother and sister-in-law: James Dean Osborn and Jessie of Oneida, Tenn.; two grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
