Dragons win Gallia meet; Miller, Ashton individual champs

GALLIPOLIS — Share the wealth.

The Fairland Dragons won the team title and Rock Hill’s Seth Miller took individual honors as Monday’s Gallipolis Coaches Corner Invitational cross country meet.

Miller — a sophomore — posted a 17:25.9 time to finish first overall ahead of Fairland’s Josh Sifford who had a 17:45 time.

Fairland won the boys’ meet with 55 points followed by Chillicothe with 81. Charleston (W.Va.) Catholic was third with 96, Meigs had 101, Rock Hill 121, River Valley 125, Gallipolis 168, Point Pleasant (W.Va.) 225, Coal Grove 236 and Racine Southern 251.

Rock Hill teammate Aaron Dalton was third with a 17:54.6 clocking and Fairland’s Adam Taylor ran an 18:18.30 for a top 10 finish at No. 7.

Other top five finishes for Fairland included Conner Flynn who was 12th at 18:43.1, No. 15 Bryson Bias (19:01.1) and No. 19 Bryce Day (19:08.1).

Also among the top five finishers for the Redmen were Brendon McCormick at No. 34 (20:04.3), Nathan Turvey (21:03.70) at No. 46 and No. 62 Alton Haas (22:024.0).

Coal Grove was led by Jonathan Joseph who was No. 20 with a 19:15.40 time. Josh Pierce (21:00.6) was No. 44, Wyatt Schultz (22:06.1) was No. 56, Michael Kearns (23:28.9) was No. 72 and Zac Brubaker (26:29.9) was No. 91.

Charleston Catholic won the girls’ meet with 46 points. Gallipolis had 49, Fairland 56, Meigs 87, River Valley 128 and Chillicothe 158.

Fairland junior Shanon Ashton was the overall winner with a 20:16.7 time. Teammate Jessica Price was fourth with a 21:12.1 clocking.

The Lady Dragons’ Sarah Warnock (23:26.9) was No. 17, Angel Wallace (24:30.2) was No. 22 while Abby Hankins (24:38.5) an Kaylan Hager (24:52.8) finished at 24 and 25, respectively.

Rock Hill’s Sarah McFann was No. 13 at 22:53.3, Tylan Eastham (24:30.7) was No. 23, Shelby Dalton No. 30 with a 25:12.2 time, and Lily McGinnis (28:34.6) was No. 63.

Coal Grove’s Sami Stormes (26:20.6) was No. 44.

Teams scores are based on the top five runners.
