MARENGO — Lindsey Sharp, 92, of Marengo, died Sunday, July 18, 2010, at Bennington Nursing home in Marengo. The Lawrence County native was born Feb. 27, 1918, the son the late Lindsey Sr. and Jessie Keaton Sharp.
Mr. Sharp attended Bartels Schools. He retired from Collins Coal Company in 1965 were he worked as a coal miner. He was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife, Evelyn Antis Sharp who died in 1979; his second wife, Leah Daniels Sharp who died in 2000; three sons, Jim, Ronnie and Timmy Sharp; a daughter, Mary Skaggs; two sisters, Marie Malone, and Betty Jean Sexton and two brothers, Burl, and Curtis Sharp.
He is survived by three daughters and a son-in-law, Doretta Molone of Marengo, Gloria Gullett of Pedro and Christine and Bill Farmer of Sunbury; three sons, Roy David Sharp of Galion, Jerry Sharp of Marion and Lindsey Sharp Jr. of Marengo; and 28 grandchildren.
Funeral service will be Wednesday at 12 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home, with Pastor Ronnie Aldridge and Brother Gene Spillman officiating. Burial will follow at Lawrence Furnace Cemetery.
