Jerry Gollihugh

Jerry Gollihugh, 84, of Ironton, passed away on Monday, Oct. 7, 2013, at his residence. The Scioto County native was born Nov. 16, 1928, the son of the late Edd and Clara Kees Gollihugh. He is survived by his wife of 61 years of marriage Helen Stapleton Gollihugh whom he married Dec. 26, 1951.

Mr. Gollihugh was a U.S. Army veteran and was a steelworker for Armco for 40 years. He was a member of Franklin Furnace Independent Baptist Church. Mr. Gollihugh was a Sunday school superintendent, trustee, bus and van driver, and a church camp director with various churches over the years.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by three brothers, Charles, Lenvil, and William Howard Gollihugh; three sisters, Doris Gollihugh Stevens, Freda Gollihugh, and Marie Gollihugh Otworth; and a granddaughter, Sarah Gollihugh.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter and her companion, Connie Porter and Grant Campbell of Portsmouth; a son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Jeanette Gollihugh of Ironton; three grandchildren, Shelli Waltz and her husband Tom of Philadelphia, Pa., Jeremy Gollihugh of Ironton, and Jacob Gollihugh of Ironton; four sisters, Betty Riley of Ironton, Gertrude Bragg of Wheelersburg, Jean Bruce of Ironton, and Bernice Gaspers of Wheelersburg; a brother-in-law, William Everett Stapleton of Ashland; and two sisters-in-law, Pauline Brown, and Juanita Williams, both of Ironton.

Funeral services will be at noon on Thursday at Furnace Independent Baptist Church, 100 Seneak Ave., Franklin Furnace, with Pastor Dennis Hankins officiating. Burial will follow in Buckeye Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10a.m. until the time of service at the church on Thursday. Nancy Moore

Nancy Lou Jenkins Moore, 76, of Marion, passed away Monday, Oct. 7, 2013, at her residence. The Kodak, Ky., native was born Aug. 25, 1937, the daughter of the late Albert and Winnie Little Jenkins. Mrs. Moore is preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Joe Moore.

Mrs. Moore was a 1955 graduate of Rock Hill High School and was a nurse for King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Ky. She was former member of the City Mission Church in Ironton and Marion Enterprise Baptist Church in Marion.

In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by four brothers, Carl, Hubert, Milford and Mac Arthur Jenkins; and a nephew, Carlton Eugene Jenkins, Jr. (Little Gene).

She is survived by two brothers and sisters-in-law, Homer and Mary Jenkins of Marion, and Carlton and Ruth Ellen Jenkins of Richwood; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 11, 2013, at Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jeff Cremeans officiating. Burial will follow in Jenkins Cemetery. Ruby Keeney

Ruby Keeney, 86, of Chesapeake, died Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2013, at Oakmont Manor in Flatwoods, Ky. Arrangements are pending at Schneider-Griffin Funeral Home in Chesapeake.

 

 

Betty Sanders

Betty Sanders, 63, of Ironton, died Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2013, at the Community Hospice Care Center, Ashland, Ky. She is survived by her husband, Orville Sanders. Arrangements are pending at Phillips Funeral Home.

 

 

Arvell Meadows

Arvell Joe Meadows, 72, of Huntington, W.Va., died Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2013, at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington, W.Va. He is survived by his wife, Donna Meadows. There will be a private family service. Arrangements are by Hall Funeral Home, Proctorville.
