Bob Addis

Bob O. Addis, born March 14, 1936, passed away Oct. 8, 2013, on his wife, Evelyn’s birthday at Community Hospice Care Center, Ashland, Ky., where he was a patient for four hours. Evelyn, Jack and Penny Davis, Donna Malone and Myra Bishop were at his side. He was the son of the late Emory and Othell Henry Addis. He had two daughters, Martha Elizabeth and Bobbi Lynette, both deceased.

He was the last of 10 children; eight sisters, Garnet Click, Irene Leach, Evelyn Knipp, Pauline Knipp, Lela Kerns, Joann Smith, Caroline Dean and Jan Stephens; and one brother, Kenneth Addis.

He graduated from Decatur Washington High School. He married Evelyn Lucille Davis on Nov. 27, 1957. He served in the U.S. Air Force.

Bob was saved at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church at the age of 17 on May 2, 1953, and was baptized at Decatur Baptist Church on May 10, 1953. He was licensed to preach and ordained on July 17, 1960. He pastored Macedonia Baptist Church and Victory Baptist Church in Ohio and Culloden Baptist Church and Pinch Baptist Church in West Virginia. He was a 50-year member of the Lawrence Lodge 198 and a 32nd Degree Mason.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point with the Rev. Dale Knipp officiating. Burial will follow in Slab Fork Cemetery, Pedro with military honors. Visitation will be from 12 to 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with light refreshments served.

Nancy Moore

Nancy Lou Jenkins Moore, 76, of Marion, passed away Monday, Oct. 7, 2013, at her residence. The Kodak, Ky., native was born Aug. 25, 1937, the daughter of the late Albert and Winnie Little Jenkins. Mrs. Moore is preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Joe Moore.

Mrs. Moore was a 1955 graduate of Rock Hill High School and was a nurse for King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Ky. She was former member of the City Mission Church in Ironton and Marion Enterprise Baptist Church in Marion.

In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by four brothers, Carl, Hubert, Milford and Mac Arthur Jenkins; and a nephew, Carlton Eugene Jenkins, Jr. (Little Gene).

She is survived by two brothers and sisters-in-law, Homer and Mary Jenkins of Marion, and Carlton and Ruth Ellen Jenkins of Richwood; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jeff Cremeans officiating. Burial will follow in Jenkins Cemetery. David Brammer

David E. Brammer age 73 of Marion, formerly of Ironton, passed away Sunday, Oct. 6, 2013, at Presidential Center Genesis Healthcare in Marion.

He was born Nov. 28, 1939, in Marion, to the late Nealie R. and Ruth M. (Crabtree) Brammer.

David was employed at Bennett Chevrolet and Probst Supply in Marion.

He is survived by his brother, Jim (Helen) Brammer of Marion; his sisters, Freidbel Pancake of Waterloo, and Loretta Moury of Marion; and numerous nieces and nephews.

David was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Carl, Sherman, Bert and Marion Brammer; four sisters, Nellie Schotte, Mildred Schotte, Ora Mosbarger and Rose Gier.

Joseph Eplion

Joseph Freeland Eplion, 63, of Chesapeake, died Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2013, at the Emogene Dolin Hospice House in Huntington, W.Va. Funeral services will be noon Friday at Carman Funeral Home, Flatwoods, Ky., officiated by Pastor Gene Easterling. Burial will follow at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Northeast in Greenup County, Ky., with military honors conducted by the U.S. Air Force and the American Legion Post 93 of Kenova, W.Va. Frederick Aylsworth

Betty Sanders

Betty Louise Sanders, 63, of Ironton, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2013, at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky. The Lawrence County native was born March 14, 1950, a daughter of the late Holden and Estel Bessie Hunt Smith.

Betty attended Ironton High School and worked in the housekeeping department at Jo-Lin Nursing Home in Ironton. She attended the Ironton City Mission Church. She loved to work puzzles and spend time with her children and grandchildren. The Sanders family would like to thank the Bellefonte Cancer Center, Bellefonte Hospital and Community Hospice Care Center for all the special care and love they had in her final days.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by several stepbrothers.

She is survived by her husband, Orville D. Sanders, whom she married March 6, 1971; daughter and her husband; Rae Lynn and Scott Haas of Ironton; son and his wife Scott D. and Emily Sanders of Ironton; three grandchildren; Brandon and his wife Vernice Haas, Rachel Sanders and Tyler Sanders; three brothers: Jerry and Teri Sites of Ironton, Jimmy Ray Smith of Arkansas and Doug; Smith of Ironton; and a sister: Carolyn Sue Spears of Ironton.

Funeral services will be noon Saturday at Phillips Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim Cremeans officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery and visitation will be Saturday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service.

Ruby Keeney

Ruby Keeney, 86, of Chesapeake, died Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2013, in Oakmont Manor in Flatwoods, Ky. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Highland Memorial Gardens, South Point. Ralph (Pat) Patterson

Ralph (Pat) Patterson, 85, of Coal Grove, died on Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2013. He was born in Lawrence County, the son of the late Robert and Mae Pemberton Patterson. He was a member of Hanging Rock Nazarene Church. He was retired from Semet Solvay after 32 years of service and served 15 years on the Coal Grove Police Department. He was also a member of Lawrence Lodge 198 Free and Accepted Masons, Valley of Cincinnati Royal Order of Scottish Rite, El Hasa Shrine Temple, Ashland, Ky., Shriners International, Ironton Commandery No. 45, Knights Templar, York Rite, La Grange Chapter 68, Ironton, Order of Eastern Star 437, Ironton, Honorary Legion of Honor Order of DeMolay, Kentucky Colonels and Retired Police Officers Association.

Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Mary Lou Wilson Patterson; two sons, David Patterson of Birmingham, Ala., and Joe (Kim) Justice of Ironton; daughter, Deborah Watson of Ironton; and one nephew, Joseph Patterson of Ironton. Grandchildren include Blake, Taylor and Cole Patterson, Ashley (Jeremy) Wolfe, Stephanie (Brandon) Gilbert, Joshua (Amber) Robinson. Great grandchildren include Maci and Christian Gilbert, Alise Robinson, Hattie and Jordie Wolfe. He was preceded in death by brothers, Robert Patterson, Charles Markel and Vinton Markel; and son-in-law, Dwight Watson.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at O’Keefe Baker Funeral Home with Bryan Taylor officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday with Masonic services at 7 p.m. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Gardens Masonic section.
