Elaine C. Fannin Hammond, 71, of Ironton, died Wednesday, May 26, 2010, at Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky.
She was born Dec. 14, 1938, in Ashland, a daughter of the late John W. and Elsa Salyer Fannin. She served with her husband as a missionary to Brazil, and was a pastor’s wife at churches in Kentucky, Ohio, and West Virginia. The last church they served was King’s Creek Union Chapel in Weirton, W.Va.
She is survived by her husband, the Rev. William R. Hammond; one son, William R. Hammond, Jr., and wife Carolyn, of Canal Winchester; two daughters, Lisa Christy and husband Mark, of Conway, S. C., and Jennifer McLaren and husband Scott, of Minford; one brother, Bill Fannin and his wife Faye, of Ashland, Ky.; one sister, Minnie Christy, of Wheelersburg; her grandchildren, Benjamin Hammond, Shane Christy, Scott Christy, and Isaac Hammond; and her great-grandchildren, Alexis Hammond, and Nataly Christy; and a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by one brother, John Russell Fannin and his wife, Carol.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the Swick-Bussa-Chamberlin Funeral Home in Wheelersburg, with Acy Gibson and Ronnie Blevins officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Burial Park in Wheelersburg. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. today and one hour prior to the service Saturday at the Funeral home.
