Myrna Long

Myrna Leigh (Davis) Long, 75, of Ironton, passed away Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013, at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Ironton. The Lawrence County native was born July 7, 1938, the daughter of the late Orville and Ethel Barton Davis. She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Charles Long.

Myrna was a 1956 graduate from Ironton High School. She retired from Ohio Bell Telephone Company as a telephone operator. She loved her flower garden, bowling, being on the computer with her friends and family, and her dog, Sadie. She was of the Christian faith. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her generosity.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a brother, Orville (Sonny) Davis Jr.

In addition to her husband she is also survived by foster son, James McDowell; two brothers, George (Marilyn) Davis, of Clarkston, Mich., and Carl (Barbara) Davis, of Vero Beach, Fla.; two sisters, Sally (Jim) Wisenberger and Carol (Tony) Moran, all of Ironton; brother-in-law, Steve Long; sister-in-law, Patsey Dickerson; an aunt, Violet Imes, of Sciotoville; and several nieces and nephews.

Julia Cline

Julia Ann Cline, 72, of Youngstown, departed this life Sunday, Oct. 27, 2013, at 4:40 p.m. at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, after an extended illness.

She was born July 12, 1941, in Ironton, the daughter of James and Veronica Foit Swain, moved to Florida in 2009 and returned to the area recently to live with her daughter.

Ms. Cline was employed with City National Bank as a teller, retiring in 2006.

She was a member of Ice Creek Missionary Baptist Church before moving to Florida and enjoyed watching TV and listening to gospel music.

She leaves to mourn one son, George Allen (Missy) Owen Jr., of Ashland, Ky.; one daughter, Mrs. Barbara L. (Richard) Prem, of Youngstown; one brother, Mark (Linda) Swain, of Florida; four sisters, Mrs. Noel (Lowell) Depriest, of Pedro, Mrs. Theresa (George) Kelley, of, Franklin Furnace, Mrs. Jennifer (Jack) Kimberlaine and Ms. Mary Thomas, both of Ashland, Ky.; grandchildren, Blythe (Greg) Osborne, Seth (Colleen) Osborne, Luke Osborne, Matthew (Kim) Brubaker, Phillip Faller (Danielle), Michael Pache, Lauren Prem (Josh), Brooke and Lacie Prem; great-grandchildren Jude, Lucy, Aubrey, Ryan, Zachery and Camden; and a host of relatives and friends.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church in Ironton. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.

Charles Linthicum

Charles Lamont Linthicum, 39, of Burlington, was called by God from labor to rest on Sunday, Nov. 17, 2013, at Cabell Huntington Hospital. He was born April 24, 1974, in Huntington, W.Va., to Charles and Barbara Linthicum, of Burlington. Lamont graduated Cum Laude from South Point High School in 1992. He was one of the biggest fans that South Point sports has ever had and was honored with a lifetime pass to all home sporting events. Lamont worked for Tri-State Industries in Coal Grove. Lamont was a die-hard Bengals fan, as well as an all-around avid sports fan of “the winning team.”

Most importantly, Lamont loved the Lord and was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Burlington where he was honorary deacon, church drummer, member of the male chorus, laymen’s ministry, past member of the singers of distinction and chaplain of the Sunday school.

Lamont was preceded in death by a sister, Candice Janine; a brother, Dustin Blake; paternal grandmothers, Eva Linthicum and Ruth Linthicum; and maternal grandparents Billy Pat Troxler and Georgetta Troxler.

In addition to his parents, Lamont is survived by a brother, Nolan (Susan) Linthicum, of Greenup, Ky.; a sister, Angela (Robert) Young, of Burlington; grandfather, James H. Linthicum Sr., of Burlington; nephews, Dustin Linthicum, Ezra Young and Jaden Young; nieces, Sierra Linthicum and Lyric Young; and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.

Service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church of Burlington with visitation from 10 a.m until the time of service. Dr. Douglas C. Carter will officiate. Belinda Richardson

Belinda Payne Gabbert Richardson, 63, of Pedro, died Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2013, at home. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home in South Point, with Pastor Dale Knipp officiating. Burial will follow at Woodland Cemetery. Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday.

 

Leonard Noble

Leonard Earle Noble, 84, of Ironton, died Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013, at the Community Hospice Care Center, Ashland, Ky. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday at the Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home with the Rev. Richard Carter officiating. Burial will follow in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery in Greenup County, Ky. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.

Patricia Arbaugh

Patricia “Patti” Arbaugh, 49, of South Point, after an extended battle with cancer went to be with the Lord Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2013, at her home.

Patti was born Nov. 22, 1963, in Deering, a daughter of Wm. Everett Yates and the late Georgia Etta Dillon. In addition to her mother she was preceded in death by a brother, Arthur Ray Yates. She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Gary A. Arbaugh; three children, Gary (Amanda) E. Arbaugh, Wm. Jay (Devina) Arbaugh and Brandon Nichole Arbaugh; two sisters, Devonda (Chris) Hankins and Donna (Lloyd) Childers; one brother, Curtis Yates; eight grandchildren, Skyler Arbaugh, Lenux Peyton, Kiara McKnight, Rilee Arbaugh-Flowers, Averiana Arbaugh, Skyler Heighton, Izabella Arbaugh and Nehemiah Arbaugh; and extended family. A loving wife, caring mother and devoted friend who will be missed by all.

Gilbert Waggoner

Gilbert Waggoner, 85, of Coal Grove, died on Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2013, at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky. He was born Aug. 23, 1928, in Ashland, Ky., the son of the late Glenn Waggoner and Betty (Riffe) McKee, a member of Leatherwood Missionary Baptist Church, a Army veteran, retired Insurance agent and a member of Waterloo Lodge No. 532 F&A.M.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Judy Thompson Waggoner; one daughter and son in-law, Debbie (Tom) Burnside, of Charleston, W.Va.; one son, Robert Waggoner, of Winterville, N.C.; one stepson, Bryan McClellan, of Coal Grove; and grandchildren include Tomi (Toby) McMillian, Nichole (Scott) Feldhause, all of Charleston, W.Va., Derek Waggoner, of Winterville, N.C., and Michael Waggoner, of Chapmanville, W.Va. Great grandchildren include Sophia Feldhause and Mace McMillian. Brothers include Jim Waggoner, of Gastonia, N.C., Arthur McKee, Edward McKee, Richard McKee, all of Ironton, and Earl McKee, of Marion. Sisters include Harriett Williamson, of Marion, Darlene Rapp, of Ironton, and Esther Austin, of Lakeland, Fla. Preceding him were one brother, Ralph Waggoner; one daughter, Mary Jo McClellan; four half brothers and three half sisters. Special friends include Jennifer and Marybeth and Bob’s little buddy Bradley.

Funeral will be noon Friday at Leatherwood Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Mike Huff officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at O’Keefe-Baker Funeral Home. Masonic services will be at 7 p.m. VFW Post 8850 will perform graveside rites. Burial will be in Leatherwood Cemetery. Donations are requested to Community Hospice or Leatherwood Missionary Baptist Church Building Fund.

David Trent

David E. Trent, 85, of Proctorville, died Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2013, at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington, W.Va. He is survived by his wife, Garnet E. Trent. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church of Proctorville. Burial will follow in Rome Cemetery. James R. Bruce 76, died Friday, Nov. 8, 2013. He was cremated.
