JAMES “ZIGGY” ZAGHAWSKI

James E. “Ziggy” Zaghawski, 75, of Ironton, went to be with his Lord Jesus Thursday, March 25, 2010, at a local health care center.
The Lawrence County native was born Aug. 10, 1934, the son of the late Andrew and Mary Bamer Zaghawski. He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Betty Ruth Massie Webb Zaghawski, whom he married Nov. 4, 1985.
Ziggy attended St. Lawrence School and was a former maintenance worker for Dayton Walthers in Muncie, Ind., retiring after 14 years of service in 1961. He was also a member of the City Mission Church in Ironton for 22 years where he volunteered driving the van and helped all he could. He loved the City Mission.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two daughters, Janet Gaskins and Susan McCoy; four brothers, John Zaghawski, Francis Zaghawski, Charles Everett Zaghawski and Andrew Zaghawski and three sisters, Kathern Garner, Rosemary Russell, and Margarite Willis.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, James Zaghawski; a granddaughter whom he helped raise, Destiny Webb of Portsmouth and several other grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Phillips Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Cremeans and the Rev. James Cremeans officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
