SOUTH POINT — Bernice M. Willis, 89, of South Point, passed away Monday, March 15, 2010, at a local health care center.
The South Point native was born Feb. 18, 1921, the daughter of the late Robert H. and Garnet Kelly Rice. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Waldo Willis, who passed away Dec. 21, 1977.
Mrs. Willis attended Leatherwood School and was a homemaker. She was a member of Leatherwood Missionary Baptist Church and lived all her life in South Point.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Estel Swartzwelder, Leona Tooley and Myrtle Rice and a brother, Robert M. Rice.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Timothy and Pam Willis of South Point; two grandchildren, Joshua T. Willis and Katelyn R. Willis; two brothers, Vincent Rice of Ironton and Harold D. Rice of South Point.
Graveside service will be 12:30 p.m. Friday in Langdon Cemetery with Pastor Tom Swartzwelder officiating. Friends may call 11 a.m.- noon Friday at Phillips Funeral Home.
