Clara E. Selb, 85, of Ironton, passed away Sunday, Jan. 24, 2010, at a local health care center.
The Ironton native was born March 6, 1924, the daughter of the late Daniel E. and Elizabeth Urich Hurn. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Mason A. Selb, who passed away Nov. 6, 1981.
Mrs. Selb attended St. Joseph Central Catholic School. She was a sales clerk for Ungers Shoe Store for 37 years, retiring in 1993 and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where she was a member of the Catholic Women’s Club and in the women’s church choir. She was a member of the J.J.W. Club, a past member of the Ironton Garden Club, and also a past chairperson of the Ironton Catholic Community Charity Fair.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by two brothers, Robert L. Hurn and William E. Hurn; and a sister, Betty J. Rist.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Suellen Selb of Ironton; a brother, Daniel Hurn Jr. of Steubenville; three sisters, Georgia Mae Frazier of Ironton, Mary F. Stewart of South Point, and Barbara A. Reed of Middletown; two grandchildren, Carla J. Geswein and her husband, John R. Geswein and Cristi L. Bush and her husband, J. Albert Bush, all of Ironton; four great grandchildren, Madison L. Geswein, Grant R. Geswein, Joseph Bush, and Lauren M. Bush, all of Ironton.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ironton with Father David Huffman officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
