PEDRO — John Roger Miller, 62, of Pedro, passed away Friday, Jan. 8, 2010.
John was born March 9, 1947, the son of the late Earl Franklin Miller and Vesta Louise Layne Miller. His wife, Linda Elaine Besco Miller passed away Jan. 8, 2010.
Mr. Miller was a graduate of Rock Hill High School and was a member of Mt. Calvary Freewill Baptist Church. He was a former heavy equipment operator for Collins Coal Mines, Lone Star Cement Company and the Waterloo Coal Company. He most recently worked for OSCO Industries in New Boston as a maintenance mechanic. He loved playing music, gardening, fishing and working with metal.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, David Miller.
He is survived by his two daughters and sons-in-law, Johnda and Keith Simmons of Ironton and Jessica and Johnny Highfield of Flatwoods, Ky.; four sisters, Vesta and Larry Floyd of Chesapeake, Linda and Doug Ison of Pedro, Susie and David Hontas of Norcross, Ga., and Karen Cox of Goshen, Ind.; two brothers, Steve and Connie Miller of Pedro and Robert Miller of South Point; a sister-in-law, Judy Miller of Pedro; and his four beloved grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews.
Private graveside services were conducted in Woodland Cemetery with the Rev. Bryon Carmon officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the charity of your choice.
