A new edition of the Board of Developmental Disabilities Boosters Club cookbook is now available.

“It is different,” Barb Albert, Boosters Club president, said. “There are all new recipes. It is 140 pages and this time we did different categories — slow cook, casseroles, no-bakes, soups and sandwiches, and appetizers and party snacks.”

Recipes were solicited from the community including churches and families of the students at Open Door and the clients from Tri-State Industries.

“We had quite a few requests to do this,” Albert said.

The last time the boosters produced a cookbook, the students at Open Door colored the cover. This time the club asked the students to submit designs for a cover with Kaiti Howell named the winner.

“We are thrilled with the design,” Albert said. “She is a phenomenal artist. If we need something drawn, we ask Kaiti. She is very, very talented.”

Funds raised from selling the cookbook go to the various projects the Booster Club supports for the school.

“We do the Halloween party and buy the decorations and the snacks,” Albert said. “We pay for the prom decorations and the food and graduation announcements and gifts for each graduate.”

The Boosters also support the Santa Shop that allows each child at the school to get five free Christmas gifts for family and friends.

“The following week we have a wrapping party and have snacks for them,” she said. “Most of them get for mom and dad, grandparents, brothers and sisters.”

Cookbook orders can be placed by contacting Albert at 534-3222.

Cost for the book is $10.
