Sabra Emma Rose Ackison, 88, of Ironton, passed away Friday, Dec. 4, 2009, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Ky.  The Lawrence County native was born March 25, 1921, the daughter of the late Samuel Rose and Leota Mullins Rose.  

Mrs. Ackison was a graduate of Pedro High School, a homemaker and member of First Baptist Church in Ironton.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Ackison, who passed away on April 9, 1991; a sister, Ida Rose; six brothers, E.K., Everett, Robert, John, Samuel and Harold Rose; and two great grandchildren.

She is survived by a daughter, Rosetta Moritz of Ironton; a daughter and son-in-law, Virginia and Joseph Miller of Ironton; a daughter, Cheryl Ackison of Ironton; and a son, Robert William Ackison of Ironton; nine grandchildren, John Moritz of Ironton, David Moritz of Columbus, Mark Miller of Columbus, Bryan Miller of Washington, Mo., Joseph Ackison of Cross Lanes, W.Va., Mary (Jeff) Linn of Ironton, Lynn (Doug) Hopper of Ironton, Mary Beth Scherer of Ironton and Cherlynn (Jason) Roush of Ironton; and 16 great grandchildren.

Funeral service will be Tuesday 1 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home, with Rev. Dennis Strawn officiating.  Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery.  Friends may call Tuesday from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.  Pallbearers will be John and David Moritz, Mark Miller, Brian Scherer, Chris Cooke, Greg and Jeff Linn and Joseph Ackison.  To offer condolences to the family, please visit www.phillipsfuneralhome.net.
