PEDRO — You need good pitching to beat a good team.

That’s what the Rock Hill Redwomen got Tuesday as they beat the Gallipolis Blue Angels 5-2.

Sami Nixon pitched a complete game seven-hitter as she struck out seven and did not walk a batter.

Gallipolis scored its two runs on solo home runs by Pelfrey and Roach.

“Sami really threw well. She missed her spot on two pitches and it costs her, but other than that she pitched a great game,” said Rock Hill coach Sam Gue.

Rock Hill (5-1) had six hits led by Kenzie Harrah who was 2-3 with a run batted in. Kaci Russell was 1-2 with two RBIs. Harrah and Russell each had a double.

“Harrah has had great at-bats and great approaches. It was a good team win. Everyone contributed. Gallipolis is a good team and made us work,” said Gue.

After Gallipolis took a 1-0 lead in the top of the fourth, Rock Hill answered with three runs in the bottom of the frame.

Lindy Simpson walked and Brooke Hanshaw and Harrah singled for a run. Harrah stole second and Riann Keating and Russell followed with RBI ground outs.

The lead went to 5-1 in the sixth on a hit by Harrah, Russell’s RBI double anda throwing error on the return throw from the outfield.

The Redwomen host Chesapeake Wednesday in a league game.
