Robert Moore

Robert Allen Moore, 80, of Ironton, passed away Saturday, April 19, 2014, at the Community Hospice Care Center, Ashland, Ky. He was the son of the late Rev. Allen Henry and Nellie Julia (McDaniel) Moore. His wife, Betty L. (McGarvey) Moore; a son, Matthew Naylor Moore; and an infant brother, preceded him in death.

He was a graduate of Ironton High School with the class of 1952. He was employed by the Ironton Fire Department until 1967 and then in the maintenance department of Dow Chemical, retiring from there in 1992. He also retired from the United States Air Force Reserve in 1994. He served with H Company, 3rd Battalion, 5th Marine, 1st Marine Division in the Korean War from 1952 to 1954. He was the epitome of “Once a Marine, Always a Marine.”

He is survived by his children, Shane Allen Moore, of St. Paris, Molly Robin (Moore) Blackstock, and Mark Robert Moore, of Ironton; his grandchildren, Shannon Nicole (Moore) Adams, of Huber Heights, Tracee Yvette (Blackstock) Scheeler and Rob, of Isom, Ky., Daniel Naylor Blackstock, of South Point, Shane Allen Moore II, of St. Paris, Adrian Paige Blackstock, of Ironton, Joshua Charles, Samantha Jo, Joseph Dual Moore, of St. Paris, and Markie Hannah (Moore) Barnette, of Ironton; his great-grandchildren, Ivy Renee and Story Elizabeth Scheeler, of Isom, Ky., Whalan Cyrus, Ava Rosary, Melody Louise Moore, of St. Paris, Kara Rhonda Lewis and Jacklyn Patricia Justice, of South Point, and Aevyx Estelle Barnette, of Ironton.

He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, James William (Bill) and Faith McGarvey, of Granger, Ind., and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

At Bob’s request, there will not be a funeral and he did not want flowers. He asked that all donations be made to Community Hospice.

 

 

Leona Irish

Leona Mae Irish, 81, of Huntington, W.Va., widow of Bruce Irish, passed away Tuesday, April 22, 2014, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, Huntington, W.Va. She was born Sept. 28, 1932, in Hoglane, Ind., a daughter of the late Clyde T. and Minnie Violet Damon Rhoads. She also had an infant sister and infant brother who preceded her in death.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Kitty and Ruddie Byron of Flint, Mich., and Sherry and Garth Quinn of Cedar Lake, Ind.; four sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Elaine Irish of Chesapeake, Jeffrey and Kiva Irish of Las Vegas, Nev., Russell and Lisa Irish of South Point, and Phillip and Lynn Irish of Inverness, Fla.; a brother-in-law, William L. and Connie Aldridge of Gulf Breeze, Fla.; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services conducted by Major Matthew Riley will be 6 p.m. Friday at The Salvation Army, of which she was a member, at 1223 Third Ave., Huntington. Friends may visit with family after 4 p.m. until service time Friday and a reception with light refreshments will follow services.

A committal graveside service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Perseverance Chapel Cemetery in Corydon, Ind. Donations may be made to The Salvation Army, and condolences may be submitted to www.chapmans-mortuary.com.

 

 

Arno Keyes

Arno Clifford Keyes Jr., 67, of Ironton, died Monday, April 21, 2014, at Community Hospice Care Center, Ashland. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Keyes. Arno was the owner of Buckeye Monument Company in Ironton. A visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Hall Funeral Home Proctorville, followed by a service at 8 p.m. A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Woodland Cemetery Ironton by pastor Steve Harvey. Jack Trosper

Jack Edward Trosper III, 25, of Chesapeake, died Tuesday, April 22, 2014, at Cabell Huntington Hospital, Huntington. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory Proctorville with funeral service to follow at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Rosemont Memorial Gardens.
