Robert Norris

Robert L. Norris, 74, of South Point, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Wednesday, May 7, 2014. The Ironton native was born May 19, 1939, the son of the late Lawrence Norris and Edna White Norris. He is survived by his wife, Kathy Tisdale Norris.

Mr. Norris was a 1958 graduate of Coal Grove High School and a USMC veteran, serving from 1958-1961. He was an employee for Armco Coke Plant in Ashland, Ky., from 1961 to 2001.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Franklin Norris; a sister, Marilyn Sue Brumfield; and a stepson, Jason Roush.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Karen (Alan) Leighty, of Ironton, Robin (Gary) Hugo, of Columbus, and Shannon (Jake) Jewell, of Coal Grove; three grandchildren, Josh (Amy) Leighty, of Delaware, Nathan Leighty, of Ironton, and Kayla Whitacre, of Columbus; great-grandchildren, Ava and Chase Leighty, of Delaware, and Aidan Leighty, of Ironton; a brother, James (Brenda) Norris, of South Point; a sister, Jeannine (Ashley) Tordiff, of Ironton; mother-in-law, Pat Tisdale, of South Point; sisters-in-law, Regina (Victor) Maniero, of Cleveland Heights, Laine (Dusty) Howard, of Ironton, and Shannon (Sheldon) Jeffcoat, of Tampa, Fla.; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be noon on Saturday at Phillips Funeral Home with pastor Butch Deer officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery with graveside military rites by the VFW Post 8850. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Jake Jewell, Alan Leighty, Gary Hugo, Josh Leighty, Nathan Leighty, Larry Norris II, Jim Norris and Mark Norris. Donald Cox

Donald E. Cox, 88, of Patriot, died on Wednesday, May 7, 2014, at Abbyshire Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Gallipolis. Funeral service will be 1 p.m., Saturday at Willis Funeral Home in Gallipolis with pastor John Jackson of New Life Lutheran Church officiating. A private burial will follow in the St. Louis Catholic Cemetery where he will be interred next to his wife Armella. Visitation will occur one hour prior to the funeral service. Thomas Brickey

Thomas Brickey, 76, of Ironton, died Friday, May 9, 2014, at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital. Arrangements are pending at Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home.
