Over the weekend, one of Ironton’s many treasures was resurrected when the marquee of the Ro-Na Theater was lit on Friday night downtown.

This was a momentous step for the Friends of Ironton, the civic organization who has led the charge to revitalize the former downtown theater to its original glory.

The lighting, along with a concert with Country Music Hall of Fame inductee Bobby Bare on Sunday evening highlighted the Memorial Day weekend celebration.

We want to commend all of those involved in the various facets of bringing this jewel back to life.

The rejuvenation of the Ro-Na will help what many hope is the continuation of the economic development upswing happening within the city along with the other projects like the hotel and restaurants slated to open later this year in addition to the riverfront project.

Without those who have been involved, it is a near certainty that the building would have reached a point where it could no longer have been usable.

All of the investments of time and finances have come to fruition with this weekend’s events at the Ro-Na, and it is important for city to continue this momentum with all the projects that continue to move Ironton forward into the future.
