A ceremonial groundbreaking for the 87-unit $13.5 million project located at 7904 County Road 107 was held Sept. 10, 2013. In early November of 2013 the expected completion date was this past April, but normal and expected construction delays slowed its progress.

“We expect the facility will be completed in the next three or four weeks,” Rachel Sargent Bess, residence director, said. “The plan is we will be fully operational by early July.”

The facility will create more than 50 jobs and features an on-site urgent care facility that will be open to the public operated by Cabell Huntington Hospital.

“Wyngate at RiversEdge is the first senior living community in the Tri-State to offer the convenience of a medical facility on site,” Bess said. “Available to Wyngate residents and the community in general, the primary and urgent care facility will offer imaging and lab services, physical therapy and home health care.”

Two studio apartments were used as models at the open house; one empty to show overall space, and one furnished. Residents are required to bring their own furniture, but Wyngate staff will assist in transport and setup.

“We are giving a brief overview of what we are and what we do,” Bess said. “This facility is going to be awesome for this community. This is a big thing happening here.”

Of the 87 units, 28, called The Landings, are for independent living and 59, called The Inn, are for assisted living. Residents will pay rent on a month-to-month basis and be provided 24-hour nurses, three meals a day and a kitchen open around the clock, planned activities, housekeeping, laundry services, utilities and transportation.

“Although we are still under construction,” Bess said. “We are hosting this open house to give the community a preview of what’s to come later this summer. We invited all of our depositors and those interested in coming to live with us.”

The residential part of the facility features a large common area and activity room, two nurses’ stations and an on-site beauty salon.
