James Ball

James O. Ball Jr., passed away Monday, June 30, 2014, at University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, Ky. The Lawrence County native was born Aug. 7, 1938, a son to the late James O. (Red) Sr. and Catherine Schweichart Ball. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Iva Kiser Ball, whom he married Feb. 9, 1963.

Mr. Ball attended Ironton High School and was a veteran of the Army National Guard. Mr. Ball was an operator for Allied Chemical. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church. Mr. Ball enjoyed bowling, fishing and hunting and was a taxidermist for many, many years.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Jeff Ball, of Ironton, and Mike (Donna) Ball, of Amelia; a granddaughter, Lauren Ball, of Ironton; two grandsons, Matthew Ball and Mark Ball, both of Ironton; a sister, Winnie (J.C.) Johnson, of Kitts Hill; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at the Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home with pastor Ken Gowin officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery. Visitation will be noon until time of service on Thursday. Donations in memory of James may be made online by visiting www.fightsma.org.

 

 

Freda Meenach

Freda Mae Meenach, 85, of Proctorville, died Monday, June 30, 2014, at The Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House in Huntington, W.Va. She is survived by her husband, Jack G. Meenach. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory in Proctorville. Burial will follow in Rome Cemetery. Visitation will be noon-2 p.m. Thursday at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory in Proctorville.

Linda Blankenship

Linda Fay Blankenship, 63, of Huntington, W.Va., died Monday, June 30, 2014, at home. A memorial service will be held 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory in Proctorville. A gathering of friends and family will be at 5:30-6:30 p.m. Thursday at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory in Proctorville. Melissa Hensley

Melissa Dawn Hensley, 43, of Ironton, died Monday, June 30, 2014, at King’s Daughters in Ashland, Ky. She was the daughter of Susan Salyers and the late Darryl Salyers. She will be cremated and a memorial gathering will take place at her mother’s home at a later date. Memorial donations to help her mom with final expenses should be made to the funeral chapel. Arrangements are being handled by Brown Funeral Chapel of Ironton.
