PORTSMOUTH — It was a day of “almosts” for the Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers’ tennis team.

Aleigha Justice got Ironton’s lone when in straight sets but Ariel Whitt fell in extra sets in singles play.

Both of Ironton’s doubles matches were close but ended in a loss.

The Lady Fighting Tigers (5-3) host Portsmouth on Monday and entertain Minford next Thursday on senior night.

Sectional tournament play begins on Tuesday, Sept. 30.
