Sometimes, the simplest solution is the most difficult to grasp.

If someone is behind on paying child support or meeting obligations, they should not be out gambling.

While there could be various factors that could lead to getting behind on paying child support, one of those causes should not be a result of gambling.

The State of Ohio and the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services have recently instituted a program that will hopefully provide an aid in preventing some of those who have not met their court ordered obligations from reaping the rewards of gambling.

The new program will allow the state to cross-reference winnings from casinos and racinos around the state with a database of those who are in arrears on child support.

To generate a prompt in the database, winnings from a slot machine would need to be $1,200 or more while table game winners of $5,000 or high-stakes games of $600 or more.

While it would be better to collect all the child support before they go into arrears, this program will continue to be a benefit and supplement to help in the collection of overdue child support.

Ultimately, this is definitely a program that will continue to make a difference for children.
