The position was the same, but the competition was moving all around the Ironton Fighting Tigers.

Ironton (4-1) remained third in this week’s Ohio High School Athletic Association Division V Region 17 computer playoff ratings but there was movement among the other teams in the region.

Columbus Eastmoor Academy (5-0) is still No. 1 but St. Clairsville jumped from fifth to second with its win over Martins Ferry (4-1).

Wheelersburg (4-1) tumbled from second to No. 6 after being blanked by Jackson 27-0.

Coshocton (5-0) stayed in the No. 4 spot and Bishop Hartley (3-2) is still fifth. After Wheelersburg is Liberty Union (4-1) with Martins Ferry remaining eight.

Portsmouth West (3-2) climbed two spots to ninth and the Chesapeake Panthers (3-2) used their win over Vincent Warren to jump to No. 10 in the region.

Ironton is open this week while Chesapeake hosts rival Fairland.

The Coal Grove Hornets (3-2) used their win over Waverly to vault from No. 12 to sixth in Region 21 of Division VI.

The Hornets have a huge point game this week as they host Wheelersburg.

A win could virtually lock up a postseason playoff spot for Coal Grove.

Lucasville Valley (5-0) remains the region leader followed by Fredericktown (5-0), Grandview Heights (4-1), Centerburg (4-1) and Columbus Bishop Ready (4-1).

After Coal Grove is Woodsfield Monroe (3-2), Oak Hill (3-2) and West Lafayette Ridgewood (4-1) at eighth, and Nelsonville-York (3-2).

The Symmes Valley Vikings (2-3) remained No. 11 in Region 25 of Division VII despite a 24-21 overtime loss to Northwest.

Shadyside (5-0) leads the region followed by Trimble (5-0), Tuscarawas Central Catholic (5-0), Caldwell (5-0), Paint Valley (3-2), Frontier (5-0), Millersport (5-0), South Gallia (3-2), Sciotoville East (3-2) and Harvest Prep (4-1).

The Vikings play Green (2-3) on Friday.

The top eight finishers in each region of each division qualify for the postseason playoffs except in Division I where the top 16 teams in each of the two regions qualify.
