SHOWDOWN: The anticipated matchup between defending state champions Coldwater and Marion Local (D7) proved to be a defensive gem as both teams entered allowing an average of nine points per game.

Jacy Goettemoeller had rushing TDs on the first two Flyers possessions. Marion also bottled up D5 offensive player of the year Brody Hoying and the Cavaliers all night in winning 20-0 at a jam-packed Booster Stadium in Maria Stein.

Marion Local LB Jacob Kunkler, the D7 defensive player of the year, had a 30-yard interception return with 11 seconds left to play to complete the scoring.

PILING UP STATS: Jake Davis ran 37 times for 149 yards and scored six TDs as Gnadenhutten Indian Valley slipped past Akron Manchester 49-36. Davis now has amassed 6,253 career rushing yards, moving him up to 15th on the all-time Ohio rushing list.

STREAKS: Behind 283 yards rushing and three TDs by Breck Turner, Norwalk stayed perfect by beating Bellevue, 49-27 — marking the first time since 1949-50 that the Truckers beat the Redmen in consecutive seasons; Marquis Graham returned an interception 95 yards, Lima Senior set a school record for points in a game and improved to 7-0 for the first time in school history with a 72-50 win over Toledo St. John’s.
