Ralph Snead

Nov. 17, 1939 — Dec. 30, 2014

 

Ralph Thomas Snead, 75, of Ironton, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2014, at a health care facility in Ironton. The Radford, Virginia, native was born Nov. 17, 1939, a son of the late James Daniel “JD” and Helen Tordiff Snead.

Ralph was a graduate of Ironton High School, where he was an outstanding all-around athlete. In 2014 he was enshrined into the Ironton High School Athletic Hall of Fame and was a past honoree of the Ironton Sports Day. Ralph served his country in the U.S. Navy and was a member of the Central Christian Church in Ironton. He was a former employee of the Dayton Malleable Iron Company and retired from the Ironton City Schools, where he was the supervisor of the maintenance department. He was a member of the VFW Post 8850 and the American Legion.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, David Leland Snead; a brother, James Snead; and three sisters, Barbara Lawless, Mary Snead and Bettie Compston.

He is survived by three daughters, Charla R. (Terry) Reedy, of Equatorial Guinea, West Africa; Shara Runyon and Shelli (John) Culbertson, both of Ironton; a brother, Charles (Yvonne) Snead, of Coal Grove; a sister, June (Dan) Calhoun, of Houston, Texas; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and other family members and many friends.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Phillips Funeral Home with the Rev. Steve Harvey officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery with military honors provided by the VFW Post 8850.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Judy Jackson

April 20, 1948 — Dec. 31, 2014

 

Judy Ann (Kinder) Jackson, 66, of South Point, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2014, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland. Judy was born April 20, 1948, in Boone County, West Virginia. She was a 1965 graduate of Sherman High School. Judy was a devoted wife, homemaker and mother figure to many.

Judy was preceded in death by son, Roy Dale Jackson; parents, Roy and Sally Marie Kinder; sister, Cora Jane Payne; and two brothers, Wilmon Kinder and Carlos Kinder.

She is survived by her loving husband of 43 years, Dale Jackson Sr.; devoted son Dale Jackson II (Brandi), of South Point; and stepson, Jimmy Dale (Molly) Jackson, of Cleveland; her much-loved grandchildren, Brandin Jackson and Braden Jackson, both of South Point, who were the pride and joy of her life; stepgrandchildren, Billy Jackson and Brittni Jackson, both of Cleveland; sisters, Pauline (Buck) Barker and Arbutus (Don) Bell both of Ashford, West Virginia; Joyce (Basil) Baire, of Alum Creek, West Virginia; brothers, Almon (Beaulah) Kinder and Gary (Phyllis) Kinder, both of Ashford, and Billy (Ruth) Kinder, of Cleveland; and many special nieces and nephews.

Margie Williams

Feb. 28, 1921 — Dec. 30, 2014

 

Margie Williams, 93, of Ironton, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2014, in Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital in Ashland. Mrs. Williams was born Feb. 28, 1921, in Wolfpit, Kentucky, a daughter to the late Jess and Martha Anson Waller. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Williams, whom she married April 3, 1942.

Mrs. Williams was a 1939 graduate of Ironton High School, where she was the class valedictorian and May Queen. She was a member of the original Sydenstricker Methodist Church in Ironton. She was a former employee of Ohio Bureau of Unemployment and a homemaker.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Frank Waller, of California, and Leonard Waller, of Hawaii; and two sisters-in-law, Reatha Waller and Betty Waller.

She is survived by a son, Roger (Karen) Williams, of Ironton; daughter, Marta (Gary) Leach, of Ironton; eight grandchildren, Nicholas (Jessica) Williams, of Ironton, Grant (Tiffany) Williams, of Ironton, Kevin Williams, of Columbus, Baylee Williams, of Ironton, Jay Kehoe, of Ironton, Jennifer Kehoe, of Cincinnati, Chelsea Kehoe, of Ft. Myers, Florida, and Calle Kehoe, of Ft. Myers, Florida; a great-grandchild, Cole Williams, of Ironton; two brothers, Jess Waller, of Torrance, California, and Howard (Carol) Waller, of Ironton; and a sister, Patti (Harold) Koerper, of Ironton.
