Paul Richards

July 11, 1924 – Feb. 2, 2015

Paul Harmon Richards, 90, of Holt, Florida, passed away Monday, Feb. 2, 2015. He was born on July 11, 1924, in Ironton, to the late William Hobert Richards and Mary Edna (Harmon) Richards.

Paul graduated from Ironton High School in 1943 and joined the Navy that summer. His basic training was at the Naval Air Station, Pensacola, Florida, followed by overseas and sea duty in Asiatic Pacific area. He spent his years contracting and developing properties in Ohio and Florida. He attended Shepherd’s Church

Paul is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Lois Bendorf Richards; his children, Paul David (Sandy) Richards of Riverside, California, Beverly Richards of Milton, Florida, Jeanette (Milt) Lester of Holt, Florida, Richard Hobert (Rosemary) Richards of Milton, Florida, and Jennifer Richards (Grant) Elliott of Milton, Florida; his stepchildren, Linda (Roy) Kobert of Orlando, Florida, Sherry (Steve) Strickland of Orlando, Florida and Christine Jenkins of Orlando, Florida; He was loving Papaw to his grandchildren, Andrea, Kyle, Justin Richards, Heather Duty, Shannon Strodthoff, Joey and Kara Lester, Jason, Josh Tory Richards and Sierra Elliott; eight stepgrandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Paul is also survived by his sister, Wanda Daniel of South Point; and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Stanley Richards and Robert Richards.

A memorial service will be held in the spring at Davis-Watkins Crestview Memorial, 492 E. Pine Avenue, Crestview, FL 32539 with pastor Nathan Fort officiating. A private interment will be held at Barrancas National Cemetery, Pensacola, Florida.

Ruth Burcham

Feb. 4, 1925-Feb. 5, 2015

Ruth Dutey Burcham passed away peacefully on Feb. 5, 2015, one day after her 90th birthday, at Jo-Lin Health Center in Ironton. Ruth was the daughter of the late James and Mae Beals Dutey, of Coal Grove, and was preceded in death in 2002 by her beloved husband of 60 years, Noel Burcham.

Mrs. Burcham was a 1942 graduate of Coal Grove High School and a member of Zoar Missionary Baptist Church. As the matriarch of a family of coaches and players, Ruth proudly wore her jersey with a Coal Grove Hornet on one side and an Ironton Tiger on the other.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, James (Red) Dutey, Jack (Joan) Dutey and Roy Delbert Dutey; sisters, Betty (Emerson) Mader and Patricia Dutey. She is survived by brothers, Ray (Laura) Dutey and Gary (Gail) Dutey; sisters, Peggy (Chet) Arden and Sharon (Bill) Morgan; and sister-in-law, Maxine Burcham.

She is also survived by her son, Michael (Linda) Burcham and daughter Susan (Richard) Heyard; her six grandchildren, Noel (Jeff) Smith, Bart Burcham, Mark (Brooke) Vass, Mike (April) Burcham, Melissa (Toben) Schreck and Kristen (John) Hunt, all of Ironton. Her 13 great-grandchildren, Ali (Kyle) Hankins, Conor Markins, Taylor Monk, Katie Burcham, Nolan Schreck, Riley Schreck, Bryson Burcham, Braden Schreck, Maddox Vass, Malee Vass, Dawson Hunt, Reid Hunt, Adalyn Hunt and great-great grandson, Ayden Hankins, were her greatest joy.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Jo-Lin Health Center for their loving care and support.

Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Monday at the Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home with the Rev. Steve Harvey officiating. Burial will follow in the Zoar Cemetery. Donald White

March 29, 1941-Jan. 23, 2015

Donald Ray White, 73 of Las Vegas, Nevada, passed away on Jan. 23, 2015. The Lawrence County native was born on March 29, 1941, the son of the late Celces and Effie Addis White. He was also preceded in death by two sons. Don was salutatorian of the 1959 graduating class of Waterloo High School. After graduation he entered the U.S. Navy where he served for over 20 years. Upon leaving the Navy Don worked for the FAA until his retirement.

Surviving are his wife Nellie and four children, Susan, Cheryl, Danny, and Billy. Other survivors include three sisters, Barbara (Don) Vincell, Sharon (Steve) Jenkins, both of Ironton, and Juanita Lang, of South Point; three brothers, Ron (Sue) White, John (Frankie) White, both of Ironton, and Dale (Gloria) White, of Kitts Hill. Services for Don were held in Las Vegas.
