COLUMBUS (AP) — Ohio officials are proposing to provide additional time between gun and muzzleloader hunting seasons this coming winter.

The proposed dates were presented to the Ohio Wildlife Council at a recent meeting. Hunters had sought more time between the two days of gun hunting in December and muzzleloader season. The initial dates had raised concerns about conflicting with holiday travel.

The newly proposed dates for the December gun hunting are Dec. 28 to 29, while those for muzzleloader season are Jan. 9 to 12.

The proposed youth deer-gun season would remain during the third weekend in November, and the opening of the fall wild turkey season would shift to Oct. 10 from Oct. 12.

The council is expected to vote next month on the dates for the 2015-2016 hunting season.
