We live in a world that convinces us we are infallible. We have chosen gods among men. We simply believe that man has all the answers and we answer to no one. Then Death comes knocking at our door, perhaps a loved one or maybe it is you who has reached the end of life.

Then all the questions change, as do the beliefs. The demise of an individual seems to encourage the ones still living to pray. But why now? What makes you so sure that your loved ones will travel to heaven and you shall meet again?

Scientists study the makeup of molecules and minerals that tell a story. The story explains what the earth is made of and the makeup of humans which oddly enough is the same things stars are made with. Or is it? Astronauts have long spoken of the divine design when shot into space. There is a pattern to this world in which we live and breathe. Its beauty and allure seems to have a definite pattern.

We are given an average of 70 years here on earth. That number is found in the Bible. Whoa, I have just brought God into the picture, is that even allowed? My question is, why do we feel that we must disprove the Bible?

Hey, if you think it can be done, I say go for it, educate us all. Let me first remind you that it has been tried and found that it is consistent with the world in which we live. What? Wait a minute. The Bible, it is the history of the world and try as we must, it will never be disproved.

This week, we celebrated Good Friday. Yesterday I had a fellow ask me to give him a prayer to say before he went to bed. I pondered, I worried that I might say something wrong. This fellow I speak of may have never been to church. So, I pray and start searching for words of comfort. I think about Good Friday and its meaning.

In the Old Testament we are told of God talking with his people and yet they still chose evil. God destroyed the world with a flood leaving only Noah a righteous and upright man and his family to survive. Once again the generations that followed were evil and it was a constant battle with God and Satan. With no choice left but to come down to Earth, God chose a virgin to bare his son Jesus.

Jesus grew up preaching the word of his father. He performed many miracles. Now don’t you think that people would talk about miracles they witnessed? In the end, Jesus was nailed to a cross and crucified, end of story, right? No, that is when things became undeniable. As crowds witnessed his death alongside two criminals, plus there also stood his mother, they also witness something that no generation could forget.

At this point things happen that gave proof that were frightening and yet real.

And Jesus uttered a loud cry and breathed his last. The curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shook, the rocks split. And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints, which slept arose. And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.

Now when the centurion, and they that were with him, watching Jesus, saw the earthquake, and those things that were done, they feared greatly, saying, Truly this was the Son of God. I too think that would have been enough for me to believe.
