Kenzie Cremeens put a charge in the ball and it must have lit up her teammates.

Cremeens hit a two-run homer in the first game that gave the Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers a 3-2 win over the Fairview Lady Eagles on Saturday.

In the second game, Ironton had 14 hits including a three-run homer by Aley Carmon as the Lady Tigers completed the sweep with a 12-2 six-inning win.

“I am proud of the girls effort at the plate. Kenzie Cremeens gave the girls some energy when she cranked the two-run home run over the centerfield fence,” said Ironton coach Missy Fields.

“The second game the bats woke up more and several girls put some hits in the book. Coach Mark Carmon and coach (Jim) Dyer have worked the girls extra hard during hitting practice and their efforts are paying off. The girls are gaining some confidence at the play.”

Kylee Metzger got the win in the first game with a three-hitter. She struck out eight and walked two.

Sophomore Brooke Elswick went five innings in the nightcap to get the win. She gave up just four hits, struck out four and walked three. Metzger pitched the sixth.

“Kylee Metzger had another good outing. Brooke Elswick is coming along real well pitching. She has been working really well at practice to get some time on the mound,” said Fields.

Ironton’s Taylor Monk enjoyed a big day. Monk went 2-3 with a triple in the first game and then went 3-4 with another triple in the second game.

Carmon was 3-3 with a double and a home run in the second game as nine different players had hits. She was 1-3 in the first game.

Kylie Barcus was 2-3 while Sarah Wright was 1-1. Katie Burcham was 1-3 in each game while Breanna Klaiber, Ariel Whitt and Zjaytia Black-Mize all had hits in the second game.

Klaiber’s hit was a double.

Ironton hosts Fairland Monday and visits South Point on Wednesday.
