After months of hard work, Lawrence County’s 4-Hers and Future Farmers of America will reveal their projects for all to see at this year’s county fair.

While pre-fair activities begin tonight, the first of the week’s market shows start Saturday with tobacco and chickens.

While students can’t actually bring their chickens to the fairgrounds, they will be judged on their projects like everyone else.

It had to come as a blow to those students who picked poultry as their projects, but we’re glad their hard work won’t go to waste.

As we do each year, The Tribune will highlight the accomplishments of this year’s batch of students with various feature stories throughout the next week. We are excited as always to see how hard these children have worked to raise their animals and even more excited to give them the recognition they deserve.

This year’s fair runs through July 18 so there are plenty of opportunities to show your support to all the 4-H and FFA clubs by stopping by the livestock arena and cheering them on.

If you’re feeling really generous, check out the Sweet Tooth Auction at 6 p.m. on Monday. All money goes to help the junior fair board cover the costs of its community service projects and activities.
