Events showcase talents

If there was ever any doubt that Lawrence County and the Tri-State are full of talented people, this weekend’s festivities should more than prove it.

On Saturday, Ironton aLive will host its inaugural Heritage Artisan Festival from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. downtown at the Ironton Farmers Market. A few blocks away, the Friends of the Library will host its Octoberfest Arts and Crafts Fair from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on the second floor of the Ironton branch.

With the holiday season hurdling right at us, this weekend would be the perfect time to get some shopping done while supporting the local artisans who pour their hearts into their work, whether it be a painting, a piece of jewelry or pottery or a cozy scarf or blanket.

Several other churches are also hosting craft bazaars and fall festivals this weekend, so those who complain there is nothing to do in Lawrence County need to look no further than their own backyard.

In today’s paper, just on the next page, you’ll find a litany of announcements in our calendar. While we can only squeeze in a small portion of that calendar each day, our website has the entire events calendar right at your fingertips. It’s on the right hand side of the home page.

If you or your organization has a special event coming up, send us an email at news@irontontribune.com so we can add it to our events calendar.
