Tracy Nicely

Tracy Warren Nicely, 46, of Chesapeake, passed away Saturday, Oct. 31, 2015, at home. He was born March 21, 1969, in Huntington, West Virginia, son of Gene and Willa Elkins Nicely of Chesapeake.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by one daughter Tamara (Jason) Russell, of South Point; one son, Coty W. Nicely, of South Point; and their mother Teresa Thacker; two grandchildren, Kaidan and Brantley; three brothers, Greg G. Nicely of Chesapeake, Mark E. Nicely, of Hilliardand Jamie R. Nicely, of Proctorville; one sister, Shannon M. Badalamenti, of Burton; and several nieces and nephews.

He was a disabled U.S. Army veteran and served as a member of the 82nd Airborne. Funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, by pastor Eddie Salmons.

Burial will follow in Miller Memorial Gardens, Miller. Proctorville VFW Post 6878 will conduct military graveside rites. Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.timeformemory.com/hall.

 

Doris Payne

Dec. 29, 1934 — Nov. 2, 2015

Doris Elizabeth Payne, 80, of Ironton, passed away Monday, Nov. 2, 2015, at the Sanctuary of the Ohio Valley nursing facility. Mrs. Payne was born Dec. 29, 1934, in Ironton, a daughter to the late Sammy James and Virginia Hayes. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Tommy T. Payne.

Mrs. Payne was retired from the Hill’s Department Store, Ashland. She enjoyed traveling and fishing and was a former member of Quinn Chapel in Ironton and also attended Greater Love Temple, Burlington.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas E. Hayes; three uncles, Samuel Hayes, David Hayes, and Henry Hayes; aunt and uncle, Nellie and Daniel Batiste and a niece, Theresa Hayes.

Doris is survived by three stepchildren, Marion Batiste, of Columbus, Geneva Mann, of Columbus and William T. Payne, of Ironton; a sister-in-law, Greta Hayes, of Ironton; a niece, Carla Brice, of Ironton; three nephews, Allen W. Brice of Ironton, Thomas E. Hayes Jr., of Ironton and Rodney M. (Donna) Hayes, of Ironton; several cousins and extended family; nine stepgrandchildren, several stepgreat-grandchildren and a special friend, Carol Carter of Ironton.

Seldon Stapleton

Seldon Stapleton, 90, of Portsmouth, formerly of Ashland, died peacefully, Monday, Nov. 2, 2015, at Crystal Care Center in Franklin Furnace. Surviving include a son, Robert Henry Stapleton, of Pedro; a brother, Rollie ‘Watt’ Stapleton; two sisters, Betty Stapleton and Madelene Avanelle Beebe; one granddaughter; and three great-granddaughters. Funeral services will be at 12:30 p.m. Thursday at Preston Family Funeral Home by pastor Calvin Ray Evans. Burial will be at 2 p.m. in the Oakland Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be this evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

 

Yvonne Drawdy

Yvonne Drawdy, 69, of Willow Wood, died Monday, Nov. 2, 2015, at Community Hospice Care Center, Ashland, Kentucky. There will be private family services.
