PEDRO — The Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers can go from zero to 60 in a matter of seconds.

Ironton lead just 9-7 seven minutes into the first quarter. The Lady Tigers then hit the accelerator and raced to a 27-7 lead en route to a 64-34 Ohio Valley Conference win over the Rock Hill Redwomen on Monday.

Ironton coach Doug Graham said his team’s early struggles were just simply a matter of making shots.

“We some easy shots that we just missed. Once those shots started to drop, we were able to start creating some distance between us and them,” said Graham.

Ironton’s defense allowed just 13 points in the first half — 10 from the foul line.

“You can’t always have a good night offensively, but you can always play well defensively,” said Graham.

Lexie Barrier scored 20 points and Lexie Wise 19 to lead Ironton. Sydney Webb added 10 points as Ironton stayed unbeaten (6-0, 4-0).

Sami Dillon scored 10 points while Kaci Russell and Anna Darby had 9 points each to lead Rock Hill (2-3, 1-3).

Webb scored 7 points in the first quarter as Ironton took a 15-7 first quarter lead.

Barrier had 8 points in the second quarter and the lead was 37-13 at the half.

Wise had 8 points in the third quarter as the Lady Tigers stretched the lead to 52-24.

On Thursday, Ironton visits Chesapeake and Rock Hill hosts Coal Grove in OVC games.
