REEDSVILLE — It’s supposed to be cold at Christmas time. The St. Joseph Female Flyers tried to do their part to change the unseasonable warm temperatures.

The Female Flyers shot a frigid 26 percent on Wednesday as they lost 60-36 to the Eastern Lady Eagles.

Conversely, Eastern was 23-of-50 from the field for 46 percent.

“They were just better than us, and when you have two quarters that you only score five points, that spells trouble. We couldn’t make anything,” said St. Joseph coach Nick Miller.

“But we have to rebound. We have to find someone who can rebound. We’re getting killed on second shots.”

The cold shooting was pivotal in the start of the game as Eastern jumped in front 25-5 and St. Joseph never recovered.

The Female Flyers outscored Eastern 12-8 in the second quarter and trailed 33-17 at the half, but they managed just 5 points again in the third quarter as Eastern built a 45-22 lead.

Ashley Bartram and Lynsey Booker scored 9 points each to lead the Female Flyers (3-5).

Eastern (7-3) was led by Jess Parker with 13 points and Laura Pullins with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Madison Williams and Rebecca Pullins added 11 points each.

St. Joseph plays at Coal Grove on Tuesday.
