Dragons rout Rosecrans at DPCU Holiday Shootout

DOVER — If this were a game of “h-o-r-s-e,” the Fairland Dragons would have won by four letters.

The Dragons shot 51 percent while Zanesville Bishop Rosecrans a meager 19 percent as Fairland posted a 57-28 win on Sunday in the Dover-Phila Credit Union Holiday Shootout.

Fairland was 23-of-45 from the field including 4-of-10 from behind the arc. Rosecrans was just 12-of-63 from the floor and 4-of-31 from the 3-point line.

Fairland led 18-14 with two minutes left in the second quarter and promptly went on a 10-0 run to finish the half and make it 28-14 at the break.

The Dragons outscored Rosecrans 8-2 to begin the second half and it was 34-16. The Bishops rallied to within 38-28 but Fairland went up 42-28 at the end of the quarter.

Rosecrans was 0-for-22 from the field in the fourth quarter as Fairland outscored the Bishops 15-0 to win going away.

Fairland (5-1) was led by Luke Thomas and Gunner Short with 14 points each as each player had a pair of 3-pointers.

Aaron Gehlken had 11 points for Rosecrans (4-3). Travis Johnson grabbed 7 rebounds.

Fairland will host South Point on Tuesday, Dec. 5, in an Ohio Valley Conference game.
