Lady Pointers, Mundy rout Lady Vikings

SOUTH POINT — The South Point Lady Pointers got off to a fast start and Kate Mundy was the lead rabbit.

Mundy scored a career-high 27 points to lead three players in double figures as the Lady Pointers beat the Symmes Valley Lady Vikings 70-46 on Monday.

Brooklyn Badgett scored 13 points and Leah Lawson 11 for South Point (6-4).

Symmes Valley (6-6) was led by Jensyn Shepherd with 14 points.

Leah Lawson and Haley Rawlins combined for 13 points in the first quarter as South Point jumped ahead 21-9.

Mundy scored 10 points in the second quarter as the Lady Pointers opened up a 43-19 lead at the half.

Shepherd scored 10 points in the third quarter for the Lady Vikings but Mundy and Badgett combined for 11 points as each team scored 16 points and it was 59-35.

Both teams scored 11 points in the fourth quarter with Mundy getting 11 for the Lady Pointers. Kaitlyn Payne scored 5 for the Lady Vikings.

South Point will play at Ironton next Monday. Symmes Valley hosts Green on Thursday, Jan. 7.
