NEW BOSTON — The effort was there. The points weren’t.

The St. Joseph Female Flyers battled but their shots wouldn’t fall in a 55-31 loss to the New Boston Lady Tigers on Wednesday.

St. Joseph could only make only 13-of-46 shots for 28 percent from the floor.

‘We hit another wall with our offense. I can’t fault our effort. The girls are still playing hard,” said St. Joseph coach Nick Miller.

Lynsey Booker scored 14 points to go with 8 rebounds and 3 steals for the Female Flyers (4-8). Morgan Turner had 11 points and 3 steals while Ashley Bartram grabbed 4 rebounds.

Ali Hamilton scored 16 points and Tammy Oiler 14 to pace New Boston.

Mariah Buckley and Oiler scored 6 points each as New Boston took a 16-12 lead. Turner scored 5 points to keep the Female Flyers close.

The Lady Tigers outscored St. Joseph 10-6 in the second quarter to lead 26-18 at the half.

Hamilton had 8 points in the third quarter to offset 5 points by Booker as New Boston went up 40-25.

St. Joseph plays at Rock Hill on Friday at 6 p.m.
