GALLIPOLIS — Better call a super hero. Kaci Russell is on the loose.

Russell nearly pulled off a triple-double as she helped lead the Rock Hill Redwomen to a 56-49 Ohio Valley Conference win over the Gallipolis Blue Angels on Thursday.

Russell had 21 points, 10 rebounds and 8 steals as Rock Hill improved to 8-5 and 5-4 in the OVC.

“She was a terror on defense,” Rock Hill coach Greg Damron said of Russell. “She had a great all-around game.”

Anna Darby also had a big game with 14 points and she hauled down 17 rebounds.

Damron said that even though other players didn’t have the big numbers, they were all instrumental in the win.

“We got great minutes form Abbi Kline off the bench. She took care of the ball well and had four pointswhen (Dillon and Russell each went out. Our bench is doing its job when they come in. It was a great team road win. Any time you get a road win in the OVC it’s nice,” said Damron.

Jordan Walker scored 13 points, Hunter Copley had 12 points including three 3-pointers and Adrienne Jenkins added 10 points for Gallipolis (2-10, 2-7).

Rock Hill was up 11-10 in the first quarter and then Russell erupted for 11 points in the second quarter to give the Redwomen a 26-22 lead.

Sami Dillon hit a 3-pointer and scored 4 points in the third quarter as Rock Hill led 41-37. Walker had 7 points in the quarter.

Darby had 6 points in the fourth quarter to negate 6 points by Copley as the Redwomen held on for the win.

Rock Hill hosts Chesapeake on Monday.
