SEAMAN — Luke Thomas wasn’t perfect, but he came close.

Thomas was 8-of-8 from the field including a sizzling 7-of-7 from behind the 3-point line as he scored a career-high 27 points and the Fairland Dragons beat the Eastern Brown Eagles 75-63 at the annual Coach Young Classic on Saturday.

The only flaws in Thomas’ shooting came at the foul line where he was 4-of-8.

Kollin Van Horn had 12 points, Isaiah Howell got 11 points, nine rebounds and two steals, and Hunter Ashton added 10 points for the Dragons (10-2).

Ty Staten dished out six assists for Fairland.

Eastern Brown was led by Charles Bellomy with 23 points and Marcus Day with 22.

Van Horn scored eight points in the first quarter as Fairland took a 20-14 lead. Day got six points for Eastern.

The Dragons extended their lead to 38-27at the half and it was 54-39 after three quarters despite seven points by Bellomy in stanza.

Thomas lit up the nets for 12 points in the fourth quarter to match Day who also scored 12 points as the Dragons snuffed out any Eagles’ comeback hopes.

Fairland visits Rock Hill on Tuesday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.
