Kenda Harper

Oct. 11, 1962 — Feb. 6, 2016

Kenda M. Harper, 53, of Ironton, passed away Saturday, Feb. 6, 2016, at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland. The Lawrence County native was born Oct. 11, 1962, a daughter of Linda M. Bowman Layne of Coal Grove and the late Keith V. Layne. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Jeffrey A. Harper.

Mrs. Harper was a graduate of Dawson-Bryant High School and a homemaker. She enjoyed painting, drawing and dancing and was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to her father and husband, she was preceded in death by her grandparents, Richard and Hattie Delawder Bowman and Clarence and Inez Lawless Layne; and parents-in-law, John and Betty Fleming Harper.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by a daughter, Traci (James) Bailey, of Ironton; a granddaughter, Kendria Bailey, of Ironton; two sisters, Kimberly Jane (Steve) McKnight, of Ironton and Kristina Layne, of Coal Grove; a godchild, Lacie A. Thomas, of Ironton and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins

Funeral services will be noon Thursday at Phillips Funeral Home with the Rev. James Cremeans officiating and visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of the service Thursday. There will be a private family burial. Pallbearers will be James Bailey, Eddie Bailey, Joe Hankins, Freddie Bruce, Phil Bond, and Justin Bond. Darrell Booth

Darrell “Peanuts” Booth, 76, of Proctorville, died Saturday, Feb. 6, 2016 at home. He is survived by his wife, Virginia Booth. Funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, by pastor Clyde Carter. Burial will follow in Miller Memorial Gardens, Miller. Georgia Blackburn

Georgia Mae Lewis Blackburn, 76, of Flatwoods, Kentucky, died on Saturday, Feb. 6, 2016, at Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland. The funeral will be at Advance Memorial United Methodist Church in Flatwoods, at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, with pastor Mark Wilson and her brother, Douglas Lewis officiating. Burial will follow at Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church. Bailey Family Funeral Home in Flatwoods, is in charge of arrangements. Karen Turner

Karen Drake Turner, 73, of Proctorville, died Sunday, Feb. 7, 2016, at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington. Visitation is from 7-8:30 p.m. today at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point. Private family services will be at Rome Cemetery, Proctorville.

 

Fredrick Justice

Fredrick William Justice, 72, of Coal Grove, died Monday, Feb. 8, 2016, at the King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland. Arrangements are under directions of Brown Funeral Chapel.
