CANTON — Trey Fletcher had a memorable season. Here’s some more memories.

The Walsh Cavaliers’ junior forward eclipsed 1,000 career points during the regular season. He added to that last week when he was named to the All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference as a second team honoree.

A key weapon in the Walsh offense, Fletcher averaged 18 points a game and made 168 field goals on the season. Both numbers were eighth best in the league.

The former Ironton Fighting Tigers’ All-Ohio standout scored in double figures 22 times and racked up four double-doubles.

He was named the GLIAC South Player of the Week on one occasions and scored a career-high 31 points in a home game against rival Malone while pulling down 13 rebounds against Ashland College.

This past weekend, Walsh upended No. 1 seed Saginaw Valley State 91-85 in the opening round. Former Ironton standout Zac Carter had 16 points and six assists in the upset while Fletcher added 15 points and seven rebounds.

Walsh then routed Hillsdale 98-69 in the semifinals led by Carter with 28 points and six assists while Fletcher added 25 points and 12 rebounds.

But their Cinderella run ended in the conference title game when the Cavaliers lost 76-59 to Ferris State.

Fletcher had four points in the loss while Carter had four points but handed out six assists.
