Barrier named to all-tourney team

COLUMBUS (AP) — Leah Morrow was named the most outstanding player of the Associated Press Division III all-tournament team after helping Columbus Africentric claim its fifth state championship.

Morrow scored 12 points and grabbed nine rebounds as the Nubians beat Marion Pleasant 59-37 in the championship game Saturday. The junior guard also had four of the team’s 18 steals.

Morrow had 22 points and six rebounds in the Nubians’ semifinal win over Ironton on Thursday.

Joining her on the all-tournament team were freshman teammate Jordan Horston (combined 23 points, 13 rebounds in two games), Marion Pleasant senior guard Kamryn Kimmel (26 points, 15 rebounds in two games), Gates Mills Gilmour Academy sophomore post Naz Hillmon (16 points, 12 rebounds in one game) and Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers’ senior guard Alexis Barrier (10 points, 17 rebounds in one game).
