PROCTORVILLE — The Rock Hill Redwomen have scored a lot of runs this season as they remain unbeaten.

Sometimes the team’s pitching and defense get lost in the keys to their success, but not to the Redwomen who beat the Fairland Lady Dragons 14- in five innings on Friday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.

Jill Hairston pitched a four-hitter and the Redwomen did not make an error as they improved to 8-0 and 4-0 in the OVC.

“We stress the importance of taking pride in things we can control, which is effort and focus on the defensive side,” said Redwomen coach Sam Gue.

“We’re fortunate enough to have a great battery with Jill and (catcher) Riann (Keating) and a defense that is stepping up and making plays.”

The offense was still solid led by Makenzi Harrah who was 3-4 with a double, triple and four runs batted in.

Kaci Russell was 3-4 and Jenna Lane 3-4 with two RBIs.

“Our seniors are leading us at the plate right now. Kaci, Jenna and Makenzi all had three hits and Riann had a key hit in the first to get us going,” said Gue.

Mollie Morris was 2-2 for Fairland.

Russell and Lane singled to start the game, moved up a on a wild pitch and Hairston grounded out as a run scored. Keating then singled home Lane.

Fairland got its run in the bottom of the inning on a triple by Morris and Morgan Fridley’s groundout.

Rock Hill got three runs in the third when Lane singled, Hairston walked, Harrah’s base hit and an RBI groundout by Keating.

In a four-run fourth, Lily McGinnis reached on an error, Anna Darby walked, Russell had an RBI single, Hairston was safe on an error for a run and Harrah drilled an RBI double.

The Redwomen created the early ending with five runs in the fifth.

Taylor Hall walked and moved up on two wild pitches. Madison Harper singled her home.

Darby and Russell singled and Lane had a two-run single. Haiston singled and then Harrah capped the scoring with a 2-run triple.

In league games Monday, Rock Hill visits Portsmouth and Fairland is at Coal Grove.
