Ohio All-Stars sweep games from Kentucky

CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. — The Ohio girls all-stars rallied in the second half to beat the Kentucky girls’ all-stars 76-71 on Saturday in the annual Ohio/Kentucky All-Star Basketball Game.

Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers’ Lexie Barrier scored eight points including a 3-point goal for Ohio in a game played at St. Thomas More College.

Nia Staples and Samantha Rogers had 12 points each and Lauren Van Kleunen 10 points to lead Ohio.

Breanna Glover had 14 points and Katie Downey 9 to pace Kentucky.

Ohio trailed 50-40 at the half and then outscored Kentucky 36-21 in the second half.

The Ohio boys made it a sweep as they edged Kentucky in a 94-92 shootout. The game was tied at halftime 46-all.

Chesapeake’s Gage Rhoades and Portsmouth’s Ky’re Allison both played in the game for the Ohio All-Stars.
