PROCTORVILLE — The Chesapeake Lady Panthers were able to turn on their offense at the right time.

The Lady Panthers rallied to score four runs in the seventh inning and beat the Fairland Lady Dragons 6-4 on Wednesday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.

“We hadn’t done much offensively and then in the last inning the girls stepped up,” said Chesapeake coach Aaron Rice.

Chesapeake (5-6, 3-3) snapped a scoreless tie with two runs in the top of the fifth.

Kelsey Huff walked, moved up on a groundout, Brooke Webb singled and went to second on the throw home and then Lyric Bair singled them home.

Fairland came back to take a 4-2 lead in the bottom of the inning.

Brooke Davis reached on an error, Halie Williams was safe on a fielder’s choice and Mollie Morris was hit by a pitch to load the bases.

Allison Shepherd reached on an error, Morgan Fridley walked to force home a run, and Maddy Kazee had a two-run RBI single.

Chesapeake then put together the winning four-run rally in the seventh.

Huff singled, Ryleigh Swann singled and Webb had a two-run double. Bair doubled in Webb and Jordan Storms’ doubled home pinch-runner Alexis Kerns.

On Friday, Chesapeake hosts Coal Grove and Fairland goes to South Point.
